This Member’s Statement was presented by Roland Butler in the House of Assembly on December 9, 2009
MR. SPEAKER:
The hon. the Member for the District of Port de Grave
MR. BUTLER: Mr. Speaker, today I pay tribute to the men and women that make up the Avalon North Wolverine Search and Rescue in Bay Roberts. On Saturday, November 14, 2009 this group celebrated their twenty-fifth anniversary with a dinner and dance that was held at the Royal Canadian Legion in Spaniard’s Bay.

It was a pleasure to join with Mr. Barry Nash, Newfoundland and Labrador’s Search and Rescue Association, Mr. Brian Avery, Office of Boating Safety for Transport Canada and Staff Sergeant Rick Robinson, the RCMP Trinity Conception District to extend greetings.

The guest speaker was Mr. Randy Mercer, a retiree of the RCMP who worked faithfully with this group over the years. Mr. Clarence Russell, Mr. Roy Mercer(correct), Mr. Clyde Mercer and Mr. Perry Bowering(correct) were presented with their twenty-fifth year certificates for their unselfish and dedicated service.

Mr. Speaker, I ask all hon. members to join me in extending congratulations to the Avalon North Wolverines Search and Rescue as they continue to serve those who find themselves in need of a search and rescue service.

Thank you, Mr. Speaker.
