Anna Thistle, Opposition Critic for Post
Secondary Education and MHA for Grand Falls - Buchans, has called upon the
Education Minister to release details of the takeover of student loans by
the government from the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce (CIBC).
"There is growing concern and confusion
among students and their families as they hear repeated public references to
the government paying off the banks and running the student loan program
itself," says Ms. Thistle. "They repeatedly hear that it has to
happen before March 31, 2004, and they are asking for details as to what the
changes will mean to them."
Ms. Thistle also has asked when and how the
students will be notified of the changes to their application process or the
repayment schedule process for those already graduated. |
