Opposition caucus to hold meetings on the Great Northern Peninsula

June 23, 2006

Opposition Leader Gerry Reid announced today that the Liberal Opposition Caucus will be holding meetings on the Great Northern Peninsula from Tuesday, June 27th to Thursday, June 29th.

"Similar to our recent meetings on the Burin Peninsula, we look forward to visiting communities and discussing issues with people living on the Great Northern Peninsula," said Mr. Reid. "There are many problems facing this region of our province including a declining fishery, outmigration, and unemployment. By meeting directly with the people, we hope to gain a better understanding of their issues and concerns."

Reid noted that the caucus will be holding meetings with various community groups, associations and town councils during the three day caucus and is hopeful that the discussions will be productive, informative and constructive for everyone involved.
