Jones expresses condolences to the family of Jack Byrne

Opposition Leader Yvonne Jones today expressed her condolences to the family and friends of the late Jack Byrne, MHA for the District of Cape St. Francis.

"I was deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Jack Byrne. I had the pleasure of serving with Jack in the House of Assembly for 12 years and enjoyed his friendship and camaraderie over that period. Even though we were on opposite sides of the legislature, there was always a cordial relationship that transcended politics. Jack always advocated on behalf of his constituents to ensure their voice was heard, and spent many hours in debate in the House of Assembly as an Opposition critic. He will be remembered as a Minister who was always accessible to municipalities and showed respect to all members. On behalf of our caucus, I want to extend our deepest sympathies and prayers to Jack’s family at this difficult time."
