Opposition Leader announces changes to shadow cabinet

Opposition Leader Yvonne Jones today released an updated listing of changes to the shadow cabinet for the upcoming session of the House of Assembly with responsibilities for monitoring and challenging the policies and decisions of the Williams Government on behalf of the people of Newfoundland and Labrador.

“We are very pleased to welcome our newest caucus member, Marshall Dean, to our team,” said Ms. Jones. “His enthusiasm, approach, insight and commitment to people will be a tremendous contribution to the Official Opposition. With Marshall’s background and experience, we felt he was well-suited to take on several major portfolios of great importance. We will continue to challenge government inside and outside the legislature to ensure the best policy decisions are made that will benefit all Newfoundlanders and Labradorians.”

The following shadow portfolios have been assigned to each Opposition caucus member:

Kelvin Parsons -           Finance and Treasury Board; Intergovernmental Affairs; Justice and Attorney General; Tourism, Culture and Recreation; Business; Opposition House Leader; Member of the House of Assembly Management Commission

Roland Butler -             Environment and Conservation; Government Services; Transportation and Works; Human Resources, Labour and Employment; Deputy Opposition House Leader; Chair of the Public Accounts Committee; Caucus Chair

Marshall Dean -            Education; Fisheries and Aquaculture; Innovation, Trade and Rural Development; Municipal Affairs; Member of the Public Accounts Committee; Caucus Whip
