Government approach to caring for seniors is inappropriate: Ball

Opposition Leader Dwight Ball today stated that the Dunderdale Government’s approach to senior’s care is inappropriate.

“Strapping patients to chairs for an extended period of time is an unacceptable practice,” said Ball. “Newfoundland and Labrador has the fastest aging population in Canada yet government has turned its back on this reality.”

Ball noted that at the core of this issue is the need for a long-term care strategy, but government has not fulfilled their promise.

“Government committed to the long-term care strategy back in 2008 but it’s still not complete,” said Ball. “It’s time for action from this government as their current approach is failing Newfoundland and Labrador families.”
