Government must honour commitments to health care patients

Liberal MHA for Burgeo-LaPoile Andrew Parsons says that the Dunderdale Government must honour its commitments to health care patients in the province.

“Last fall the Premier publicly stated that skin removal surgery would be covered if deemed medically necessary,” said Parsons. “Now the Premier and the Minister of Health and Community Services are reneging on that promise.”

Parsons noted that it’s unfortunate that patients are increasingly forced to go public to have their concerns heard by the government.

“This week it’s skin removal, last week was MRI and Alzheimer’s. What will it be next week?” asked Parsons. “The Premier and the Minister of Health and Community Services should be ashamed for forcing these patients to go public in hopes of improving their level of healthcare.”

Parsons reminded government that they have a responsibility to honour their commitments, especially when dealing with the physical and mental wellbeing of Newfoundlanders and Labradorians.
