MHA Bennett pushes Minister for more Broadband information and service

Liberal MHA for the District of St. Barbe and Opposition Critic for Innovation, Business and Rural Development, Jim Bennett,  is not satisfied with the level of Broadband and High Speed internet service in his district and around the province and has written the minister requesting clarity and action on this file.

“Many communities remain un-serviced despite recent upgrades to the existing service in the province,” said Bennett. “This is simply unacceptable in this day and age when daily life and economic dynamics are so dependent on this basic service.”

In his letter to Minister Keith Hutchings, the MHA requests a list of communities expected to be serviced, as well as those excluded in the recent broadband expansion initiative.

“I need this information so I may obtain from industry an estimate on how much it will cost to bring service to these towns and if the minister will allocate additional funds to connect these communities,” stated Bennett.  “I know in my district constituents are very angry at being left off the internet service and I can imagine other communities around the province are outraged by government’s failure to meet their connectivity needs.”
